Eagles sign safety Caden Sterns - Bleeding Green Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Sunday that they had released linebacker Shaq Quarterman and added safety Caden Sterns.

Vic Fangio was selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL selection, so Sterns is somewhat familiar with his system. However, the 24-year-old hasn’t been healthy for the previous two seasons. Fangio led Denver as their head coach from 2019 to 21.

The Carolina Panthers dismissed Sterns due to a lack of physical fitness before he signed with the Eagles. The Broncos released him last week.

Sterns has only appeared in six games during the previous two seasons, following his 15 games (2021), including two starts, in 2021. The previous season, he was limited to one game for the Broncos due to a ruptured patellar tendon.

Sterns has 49 total tackles, nine pass deflections, and four interceptions in 21 games.

After falling in 2021 NFL Draft, resurgent Caden Sterns on verge of Broncos history

With Sydney Brown on the physically unable-to-perform list and C.J. Gardner-Johnson suffering with a shoulder issue, the Eagles are severely lacking in safety depth during training camp.

After defeating the Baltimore Ravens 16–13 in Week 1 of the preseason, Quarterman was released by the Eagles, who had signed him the previous week.
