The Baltimore Ravens’ preseason opener on Friday ended in a 16–13 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. The majority of Baltimore’s key players, including two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, were rested. With the exception of the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore frequently ran its backups. But even with the NFL regular season quickly coming and roster cuts imminent, the Ravens added two guys on Sunday.

Wide receiver Anthony Miller and punter Jack Browning have signed with the Ravens, according to NFL source Aaron Wilson. In tandem, Baltimore cut ties with guard Tykeem Doss and long snapper Randen Plattner. NFL teams are allowed to carry 90 players during the preseason, although most of them begin to reduce their rosters following their opening exhibition game.

The Baltimore Ravens have reorganized their back end of the roster just two days following their preseason setback against the Philadelphia Eagles. Long snapper Randen Plattner and guard Tykeem Doss will be waived by Baltimore, according to sources. Doss has a reserve futures contract with Baltimore going into the preseason as an undrafted free agent in 2023. Doss spent much of the season as a member of the Ravens practice squad. Meanwhile, Plattner, a rookie, was a member of the Kansas State Wildcats for the previous five seasons. Nick Moore, a 2022 second-team All-Pro, is a long snapper who is still with the Ravens for the sixth season.

Wide receiver Anthony Miller and punter Jack Browning will take Doss and Plattner’s places on the Baltimore Ravens roster. Miller, the 51st overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, will try to get on to a club for the first time since 2021. Miller played for the Chicago Bears for his first three seasons, hauling in 134 receptions for 1,564 yards and 11 touchdowns. The next offseason, Miller was dealt by the Bears to the Houston Texans, where he was cut after just two games. Regarding Browning, he played collegiately for San Diego State before beginning his second professional season.

Before the second preseason game of the previous year, the Baltimore Ravens had won 24 straight exhibition games. But after losing on Thursday, the Ravens have now lost three straight preseason games. Still, for the first time in four years, the Ravens participated in a preseason game without highly-regarded backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. Rather, Baltimore looked to the departing pair of Josh Johnson, a veteran, and Devin Leary, a rookie. Johnson struggled with efficiency, while Leary was unable to move the ball downfield, therefore neither quarterback had a great game.

Owen Wright, a rookie running back, ran for 33 yards on seven carries in the defeat. Wright will make an effort to establish himself as the team’s backup rusher, following Justice Hill and Derrick Henry. Keaton Mitchell, another running back, is currently recuperating from a leg injury that ended the season.
