In the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, the Blue Jays selected the 26-year-old player. This season, at Triple-A, Eden was slashing.198/.299/.322, with seven home runs, 35 RBI, and 26 stolen bases.
He has 153 base steals in five minor league seasons. After doing their study, the Yankees have added pinch runner and bench depth that they may use come postseason time. Eden will blend in with the Bronx Bombers like clockwork. Eden, though, isn’t yet included among the 40 players.
It’s ironic that Eden’s opening game was against the Yankees. Regretfully, he has experienced offensive and defensive setbacks while in the lesser leagues. With any luck, the Yankees can help him discover his calling. Eden is an outfielder who predominantly plays left field. He has also filled in as a designated hitter.
His speed and history of stolen bases are pretty outstanding, even with occasional setbacks. In actuality, Eden leads all Triple-A players in stolen bases. Over 222 games, he stole 79 bases. That makes the Yankees’ attraction to him obvious. Eden may be compared to a Terrance Gore from 2019.
Players who haven’t been added to a 40-man roster have the option to be traded even after the MLB Trade Deadline has passed. The prospect of seeing Eden play alongside Jonatan Clase in the Buffalo Bisons outfield thrilled Blue Jays supporters. However, this move gives him the opportunity to play in the major leagues. Eden might enter the game for the Yankees in the postseason as a pinch runner at a crucial juncture.
