Sadly, Another Rams key player ruled out during practice due to injury

The Los Angeles Rams are suffering greatly from their mounting injury list, as evidenced by their performance during joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Are things getting out of hand at camp, or is this becoming a problem? Does the depth present a problem, and should Sean McVay and Les Snead try to add more pieces?

In the most recent episode of the Rams LAFB Show, Skinny T and Ryan discuss all of this and more! As you watch, don’t forget to like and subscribe to the Rams LAFB YouTube channel!

Alec Listrom, Matt Kaskey, and Connor McDermott, three free agent offensive linemen, were signed by the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams also waived defensive back Kenny Logan Jr. and tight end Neal Johnson in tandem.

The additions of Jonah Jackson (shoulder), Alaric Jackson (ankle), and Rob Havenstein (foot) come after a couple injuries sustained throughout training camp.

Although none of the three’s injuries are thought to be significant, they are all presently regarded as week-to-week players, which means that they could miss the first week of the 2024 season and possibly longer. The Rams have already been severely impacted by injuries, and losing any of their anticipated starters might throw them off balance.

Among the three new hires, McDermott has the greatest experience because he most recently played for the New England Patriots in 2023, appearing in six games and starting five of them. He played for the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets before that. Prior to filing for the 2017 NFL Draft, McDermott attended UCLA and is now returning to Southern California.

Although McDermott has primarily played tackle, he also has some experience kicking inside to guard. In the event that Jackson or Havenstein must miss work, McDermott is expected to fill in.

Having gone undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, Kaskey first signed with the Rams, so he is well acquainted with the team. He was ultimately cut, though, and signed on to the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers. Kaskey would play for Carolina for three seasons before agreeing to a UFL contract in 2023 with the Birmingham Stallions.

Later, Kaskey signed a contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, only to be waived once more. The previous year, he had a second stint with Birmingham.

Last but not least, Lindstrom participated in the 2024 UFL season while playing for the Memphis Showboats. After signing with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College, he spent time on their practice squad until sustaining two back injuries back-to-back.

Although Lindstrom is often a center, he can also play guard inside if necessary.

The Rams’ tight end room, in Matthew Stafford’s opinion, is the deepest it has ever been.
The Rams’ offensive line is already struggling, so head coach Sean McVay may need to rely more on his tight ends to assist with pass protection and blocking. Nonetheless, by describing the group as the deepest it has ever been, Matthew Stafford gave the impression that he has faith in them.
