Connor Williams Negotiating With Seattle Seahawks, Expected to Sign in '48-72 Hours'

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former center Connor Williams of the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys is expected to sign with the Seattle Seahawks. A one-year contract for up to $6 million, with a guaranteed $3 million, has been agreed upon by him.

As he recovered from an ACL tear sustained in Week 14 of the previous season, Williams became eligible for free agency. After spending the first three years of his career in Dallas, the former Texas great was in the final year of a two-year, $14 million contract with Miami.

Williams visited the Baltimore Ravens and participated in workouts with the Seattle Seahawks last month. It was implied that he would choose between the two teams, and it looks like he has done so.

Williams’ 2024 season debut could be impacted by the date of his injury. Drew Rosenhaus, Williams’ agent, had previously stated that Williams will be able to return in time for the start of the season.

Rosenhaus stated, “Connor has had a remarkable recovery, nothing short of miraculous,” in a late-June interview with WSVN. “Looking fantastic at the beginning of the season. Many teams are interested in him. However, I’m just happy for Connor. Thought it might have been something throughout the season before he played, we didn’t expect him to attend the team’s training camp. However, he’s done a fantastic job, and Connor Williams will be attending a training camp soon.

Later this week, Rosenhouse reiterated that assertion. Regardless of which team signs Williams in free agency, he stated he will be prepared for the start of the season.

“He is in good health. Rosenhaus stated, “He will be able to participate in the opening game. “In my career, I have never seen a more remarkable recovery than this one.”

Following a stellar career at Texas, Williams was taken by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. As he established himself as a unanimous All-American at guard, he was chosen for the first team of the Big 12 in 2016. With the Cowboys, he started out as a guard but eventually moved to center throughout his NFL career.

Seattle is coming off a 2023 9–8 record as Geno Smith’s breakthrough campaign persisted. However, the Seahawks made some notable additions, including Ryan Grubb as offensive coordinator and Mike Macdonald as head coach. At Washington, Grubb was instrumental in the development of Michael Penix Jr. during the tenure of former head coach Kalen DeBoer.
