Breaking: Cowboys QB Named as Possible replacement for cleveland browns star.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is a possible successor for Deshaun Watson if the Cleveland Browns decide to make the pricey decision to cut ties with him in the upcoming offseason.
With the Cowboys approaching his contract year, there hasn’t been much progress in getting the three-time Pro Bowler a new deal. Prescott will become a free agency in the upcoming offseason if he doesn’t sign a new contract, which might prompt the Browns to try to sign him.
The Browns were mentioned by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk as a team that might be interested in Prescott.
The two most important factors, according to Florio, are (1) how many teams will be searching for senior quarterbacks in 2025, and (2) how much they are willing to spend to acquire Prescott. We are aware that teams will choose to alter their strategies after 2024. The Jets, Steelers, Browns (if they’re ready to shell out $92 million for Deshaun Watson), Titans, Raiders, Giants, Saints, Rams, and Seahawks are among the teams who might still be in the running when the current season finishes.
Watson and the Browns are presently associated through the 2026 campaign. Florio pointed out that eliminating Watson would have disastrous financial effects.
With 4,516 passing yards, Prescott led the NFL in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36). If he becomes a free agent, he will probably command a high salary as he placed second in the MVP voting.
That amount currently comes to almost $55 million annually. That’s probably going to be much higher in a season.
Browns are hoping Deshaun Watson has a big year.
In a 2022 deal, Watson was acquired by the Browns in exchange for three first-round picks. They also offered him a contract with a $230 million totally guaranteed. Watson has passed for 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions in his 12 games with the Browns.
Watson is recovering from shoulder surgery, and the former Pro Bowl player has had a difficult recovery. The Browns have been pleased with his effort thus far in training camp, as he has begun to step up his workload.
“During the days that he’s throwing, he’s done a nice job,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said to media on Friday, August 2. “I felt that he was performing admirably. He’s locked in and concentrated. I’m still proud of him for participating in the huddle and offering coaching advice. As the starting quarterback, I believe that plays a big role in this. Even on a day like today when he had a bad passing day, he still showed good leadership and performed well.
QB Deshaun Watson of the Browns Silencing the Cacophony
Watson is aware that he has expectations to meet. However, he’s also not allowing the clamor from outside get to him.
As for the [crap], it’s basically simply blocking it out, Watson stated on July 26. “It was difficult to start here two years ago because it was a different team, different atmosphere, and everything.” When you enter, it seems as though your character has been disparaged in this way, which is the biggest thing about you. You’re attempting to win folks over or make improvements.
After two years, if you still don’t like me or have different ideas, that’s fine. That’s just the way things are. Thus, I believe that tuning out the outside world and concentrating on myself will help me become the greatest Deshaun Watson I can be for my family, my teammates, and myself.
Watson has stated that he expects the Browns to win the Super Bowl. Cleveland, with playmakers at almost every position, undoubtedly has a squad that can contend for one.
In addition to being +450 to win the AFC North, the Browns are +3,500 to win the Super Bowl.
