Breaking: OL Quinn Bailey of the Broncos reacts to being replaced by a rookie.

Bailey, as we all know, broke his ankle quite badly during practice yesterday. Trainers raced over to him right once, put him in an air cast, and loaded him into an ambulance to transfer him to a nearby hospital for surgery. His season was clearly over as a result of this, and the Broncos officially placed him on the season-ending injured reserve today.

Bailey was expected to be a major contributor to the Denver Broncos’ offense in the 2017 campaign. Bailey was identified by head coach Sean Payton as their sixth offensive lineman and someone who would enter the game on jumbo packages after practice.

“He was easily for us lineman [No.] 6 and someone who was going to be involved in the game plan in jumbo,” we said while talking about the roster the other day.

It will be challenging for the Broncos to find a suitable replacement for him in that capacity, as they now need to assess their remaining depth. Bailey is a jack-of-all-trades reserve who is their best swing tackle and jumbo package player. He can cover all four offensive line positions when necessary. The onus will therefore be on the remaining Broncos to step up and assume his position.

, an undrafted rookie offensive lineman, was signed by the Broncos to take up his spot on the roster. The former offensive lineman at CSU participated in the Broncos rookie minicamp earlier this spring and started all 12 games for them at tackle. The Broncos’ offensive tackle group will get some depth with the addition of this 6-5, 305-pound offensive lineman.

He recently signed with the Broncos, thus his chances of reaching the 53-man roster are minimal at best. He will, however, get an opportunity to impress the Broncos coaches during the next three weeks and contend with the other depth players for a spot on their practice squad.
