Breaking: Former tennessee favorite RB sign a four-year rookie contract with the Dolphins.
Prior to training camp, former Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright signed a rookie deal with the Miami Dolphins. The 2024 fourth-round draft selection has agreed to a four-year, $4.7 million rookie deal with a $760,020 signing bonus, making him an official Dolphin.
After three seasons, and with 1,013 running yards and four touchdowns this past season as a junior, Wright concluded his collegiate career with 2,297 rushing yards and eighteen touchdowns.
Wright’s 40-yard sprint time at the Indianapolis NFL Draft Combine in 2024 was 4.38. Depending on how the Dolphins want to employ him in the backfield, he can be a first-down speed back or a third-down power back because to his combination of speed and strength.
He gives the Dolphins’ already swift offense even more speed. With Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Moster, De’Von Achane, and Tyreek Hill—all of whom run a 40-yard dash in under four seconds—the team already boasts one of the fastest offenses in the NFL.
The backfield of the Dolphins has exceptional speed. However, injuries have made it difficult for them to remain on the field thus far. Wright might be greatly depended upon to lead the Dolphins through the season if that pattern holds true in 2024.
Wright is anticipated to face up against seasoned players Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane for carries throughout the preseason. He probably won’t start the season any higher than RB3, but if he develops as he did on Rocky Top, he might end up with more reps as the Dolphins’ RB2.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, he was selected along with three other Vols. To add three more players from Josh Heupel’s program to the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs selected cornerback Kamal Hadden and the New England Patriots selected former Vols quarterback Joe Milton III.
