Breaking: Giants welcomes Former Super Bowl-winning receiver to the team.
The New York Giants are continuing holding free-agent visits in an effort to strengthen particular position groups as training camp approaches. They hosted five players, including Super Bowl-winning receiver Byron Pringle, on Monday, including veteran offensive guard Greg Van Roten.
What Would the Giants Get from Pringle?
After a good time with the Kansas City Chiefs, when he recorded 650 yards and eight touchdowns in 2021, Pringle has been all over the league for the past two seasons.
Pringle has amassed 1,315 yards and 12 total touchdowns in five NFL seasons. With the Washington Commanders, he only managed 161 yards on 21 targets in the previous season, with a 66.7% catch percentage.
Wide Receiver Dynamics of the Giants
The wide receiver group the Giants now have combines young and seasoned talent. Malik Nabers, the sixth overall selection, is obviously the favorite, helped by Jalin Hyatt and Wan’Dale Robinson.
But they also have Isaiah Hodgins and Darius Slayton, two seasoned players who can help the team. With Allen Robinson committing to a long-term contract and young players like Bryce Ford-Wheaton vying for roster places, their depth is more cemented.
The Part Pringle Might Take
Pringle may contribute postseason experience and assist as a kick returner on special teams. Even though he hasn’t played at his best in a few years, the Giants are still counting on him as a backup. Pringle has played in the slot for half of his career, so his depth behind Wan’Dale might be useful.
