ESPN: Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is compared to another elite wide receiver
Wide receiver Darius Slayton believes the New York Giants have a star in their midst.
During a podcast appearance, Slayton extolled the virtues of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. Slayton went so far as to imply that Nabers was a physical “clone” of Ja’Marr Chase, another former LSU wide receiver.
It’s safe to assume that if Nabers were even slightly like Chase, the Giants would be overjoyed. Chase has already been an All-Pro and had three seasons with 1,000 yards after three NFL seasons. He is a key component of the Cincinnati Bengals’ success and is widely recognized as one of the top wide receivers in the league.
Though they don’t seem to be shared by everyone, some off-field worries regarding Nabers might be a lingering question. Still, the figures are there: Not much worse than the 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns Chase recorded in his final season with the Tigers, Nabers caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 scores at LSU last season.
