Breaking: Red Wings sign a blockbuster deal to land the no.1 reigning goalie.
When it came to their goalies last season, the Detroit Red Wings had to make quick adjustments.
With Alex Lyon idling on the bench, Ville Husso was their clear first choice as the season began.
James Reimer briefly assumed a more prominent role following Husso’s first of multiple lower-body injuries, but Lyon eventually overshadowed him before Reimer earned a few crucial starts towards the conclusion of the campaign.
Reimer is no longer in the goalkeeper photo this year; he signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Sabres. Michael Hutchinson, who played in one game with the Red Wings last season but spent the remainder of it in Grand Rapids, has also been let go as of yet. He can sign with any team.
Trey Augustine of Michigan State and Sebastian Cossa are two good goalies that the Wings have on their roster. It is anticipated that neither Cossa nor Augustine will be ready for at least a year.
In the off-season, they brought in two goalies: Jack Campbell, who had a dramatic collapse after earning a big contract with Edmonton, and Cam Talbot, who was recently with the Los Angeles Kings.
Here is a look at every goalie for the Wings:
