ESPN: Former Cavaliers and fans favorite key star close to finalise a deal that will see him return to Cleveland.
The majority of Cleveland Cavaliers supporters think Evan Mobley will rejoin the team for the upcoming campaign, but negotiations are still ongoing over a deal.
Brian Windhorst provided some behind-the-scenes insight in an interview with ESPN Cleveland.
According to him, the Cavaliers are probably making every effort to keep Mobley’s new contract free of a player option.
They’re probably also attempting to calculate the bonus that Mobley will receive in the event that he is selected to the All-NBA squad.
According to Windhorst, Mobley might earn “a little over $200 million” if he receives the longest possible deal.
Windhorst appears optimistic that a deal can be reached by both parties and that Mobley will return to Cleveland in 2024–2025.
Additionally, he seems certain that this agreement will not include a player option.
When players are selected into All-NBA teams, they can receive bonuses, and Mobley’s representatives are undoubtedly working hard to make sure he receives a sizable one.
Mobley just finished a season in which he averaged 9.4 rebounds and 15.7 points.
The year was challenging and a little tumultuous for the Cavaliers.
One after another, terrible injuries decimated the roster.
Mobley himself only participated in 50 games, thus he wasn’t exempt.
However, he demonstrated during those games that he is a strong and competent big guy.
Regarding Jarrett Allen, the other big man on the team, there have been whispers.
Although it’s unclear if he will return to the Cavaliers for the upcoming campaign, it appears like Mobley will be there and earning a respectable salary.
