Impacto: En el quinto turno de la MLB Draft de 2024, los Yankees seleccionaron un pitcher de brazo derecho.
The third pick overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, the pitcher from Vanderbilt, will be making his way to New York City.
The New York Yankees selected pitcher Greysen Carter of Vanderbilt with the 152nd choice in the 2024 MLB Draft. The third Commodore selected in the draft is Carter.
Carter was a highly sought-after prospect coming out of high school and was rated by Perfect Game as the top player in Colorado for the class of 2021. Carter chose to go to West End to fight for a spot in one of collegiate baseball’s most productive rotations, even though he was an all-state basketball selection as a senior.
Carter made five appearances in his first season, pitching just 5.1 innings total. But in his sophomore season, when he made 13 appearances, including seven starts, the righty witnessed a sharp increase in usage.Carter pitched 28.2 innings and had an ERA of 4.08. More astonishingly, Carter gave up just a.163 batting average against him. Carter won the game against Lipscomb without giving up a run, despite the fact that his longest outing lasted only five innings. Carter proved in the victory that he is a capable starter as well as a sparkplug from the bullpen.
Carter’s fastball during his junior season was the main attraction. The right-hander garnered attention on February 23 when he recorded a pitch speed of 103 mph, during a 12-2 victory over Gonzaga.
Carter’s quickness got Vanderbilt out of a lot of tight spots, including two games in the team’s Florida series where he was given the save credit. However, Carter also excelled in a game against Missouri as a starter, pitching 8.1 scoreless innings to secure the victory.
Carter’s versatility should be a big asset to the Yankees organization, whether he plays as a starter or a reliever.
