Notre Dame Commit CJ May Gets Action Kicked Off On Thursday - Sports Illustrated Notre Dame Fighting Irish News, Analysis and More

CJ May, a 4-star prospect, gave Louisville football’s 2025 recruiting class a significant boost today. Louisville was chosen by the former Notre Dame commit ahead of Auburn, Syracuse, and Washington. In addition, he had offers from Penn State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Miami, Tennessee, and Clemson.

May is a very good addition for Ron English and the Louisville defensive staff. He is the first composite 4-star in the class. May is 6-4/230 with a build that will allow him to put on more weight when he attends college. May’s technique as a pass rusher is not always consistent, but when it is, it is excellent and productive. May has more athleticism and talents than some other highly regarded edges, but his arms aren’t abnormally long.

Under Jeff Brohm, UofL has concentrated on the portal, and with the number of players they will need to replace after this season, I don’t see that changing. As a freshman, May should still have a great chance of making an impact on the field. He might become a package player and possible special teams contributor by the fall if he arrives in the spring and gains some weight. The most important question is whether he plays defensive end or LEO. I think he can be really good at either.
