REVEALED: The reason Caitlin Clark skipped her Indiana Fever media appearances after inspiring her squad to an incredible victory over the Phoenix Mercury
Caitlin Clark experienced a migraine during Sunday’s Indiana Fever victory over the Phoenix Mercury.
Over the weekend, the 22-year-old created more history by recording her 138th assist of the year, setting a new rookie record for the team.
However, Clark was substituted out of the game late on, and when the WNBA star’s team won 88-82, she did not appear in the media.
Christie Sides later reported that despite Clark’s impressive performance of 15 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds, she had been feeling sick the entire time.
In response to inquiries about her reasoning for benching Clark, the Fever coach maintained that it was a tactical choice. I believed that we needed to make sure we got stops, thus I required a defensive group. That was the main point, she stated.
However, Sides gave the following response when asked about Clark’s health: “She’s with her trainer right now because she didn’t feel well throughout the entire game.”
A migraine was eventually determined to have afflicted the WNBA star. She has struggled with it all her career, and Clark is accustomed to pushing through the discomfort.
She finished the 88-82 victory over Phoenix, which is home to WNBA greats Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, as the third-highest scorer on the squad.
With 39 minutes played, Clark was one rebound away from becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to earn a triple-double.
“What Caitlin has accomplished in her brief career thus far is astounding.” It hasn’t been very noteworthy or brief. She is one of my favorite things about her—she is an avid gamer.
It’s evident that she worked hard. Even in her brief WNBA career, she has faced numerous challenges and pressures. She consistently turns up and improves with each game.
“She has a very bright future.” It’s kind of amazing to witness that as a veteran and after sitting in the seat for a very long time, especially looking ahead.
