Breaking: Texas Longhorns sign in a 5-Star WR in a blockbuster deal……
The five-star receiver Kaliq Lockett, an in-state product, is the target of the Texas Longhorns.
The Texas Longhorns have set an official deadline for when to anticipate an answer from one of the best in the cycle. The team is aiming to add some elite talent to help finish their 2025 recruiting class.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported on Wednesday that 2025 five-star receiver Kaliq Lockett will make his announcement on Wednesday, August 7. The last five candidates are Texas, Florida State, LSU, Alabama, and Texas A&M. He will be selecting one of them.
On June 21, Lockett made an official visit to Texas. He made OVs to the other four programs in his top five before doing this.
Devin Duvernay, an NFL All-Pro returner and former Texas star, comes from Sachse, which is in Dallas. The recruiting program has been successful for the Longhorns in the past, so why not try it again?
Lockett said in May that Texas would “put (him) in the best position to win.” From what is being stated, it will obviously take a lot to pull the Longhorns out of the lead for him.
“I know that if I go there, I know I’ll be successful and I know that coach Jackson and coach Sark will put me in the best position to win, and the best position to be one of the best receivers in college football,” Lockett told 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs
In 11 games during the previous season, Lockett completed 59 passes for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Should Texas fail to sign Lockett, Sarkisian and associates will focus on Dakorien Moore and Jaime Ffrench, two five-star wide receivers.
