ESPN: Caitlin Clark left fans in confusion after she made a startling revelation regarding her Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides.
After disclosing intimate details about playing for Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides, Caitlin Clark has stunned fans.
The No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, Clark, is having a blast in her debut campaign with the Fever after setting numerous records during her incredible time as an Iowa undergraduate.
Despite being the subject of much controversy off the court, the 22-year-old is living up to the expectations on the floor, setting the rookie record for points scored per game (16.2).
Remarkably, it appears that she is rising through the ranks in the major levels without much mentoring on the court.
After Friday night’s Indiana 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm, Clark was questioned about the finest in-game counsel she has yet to hear this season from a seasoned colleague.
Yet Sides has been subject to harsh criticism on social media as a result of her startling response.
In the game, no one offers me advise. “I wish,” she said.
Even though the original inquiry was directed at Clark’s teammates, fans swiftly criticized Sides and questioned her coaching effect on X.
Someone commented, “@fever” Please remind me once more: “Why is @ChristieSides the head coach once more?”
“Sides must go,” said a another user.
“Oh Christian sides, count your days,” wrote a third person.
One person merely said, “Goodbye, Coach Sides.”
A video of Clark and Sides arguing on the court during last Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Sky went viral on social media.
After giving up the lead in the last two and a half minutes of the game and failing to recover, Indiana had a disastrous night. Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, and Camilla Cardoso spurred Chicago to victory in the closing minutes.
Clark did not have a significant influence in the game’s final minutes at Wintrust Arena since she repeatedly passed the ball to teammates rather than trying for the gold herself.
Amazingly, for a player who was a standout collegiate shooter for many years, she only attempted two shots in the last seven minutes of play.
Supporters were incensed at her lack of participation in the fourth quarter; some accused Sides of using “selfish” methods, while others urged Clark to be more selfless.
And as the game on Sunday came to an end, there appeared to be a furious altercation between the aforementioned two players on the court.
Prior to the Fever coach answering her concerns, Clark was spotted making irrational gestures with her right arm out while speaking with Sides.
Her player didn’t seem too pleased with the response, however, and instead threw both arms out before sighing to make her frustrations known.
One user suggested on social media: ‘Christie Sides & Caitlin Clark were arguing towards the end of the game. Clark didn’t like the game plan from Sides.
‘This is going to be an issue because Christie Sides went away from the pick & roll, Chicago was having an issue stopping it. Indiana would have won this game’.
