Alex Cora, Xander Bogaerts reflect on iconic Red Sox moment

Due to injury, Bogaerts will not be playing, but he will be returning to Boston with the Padres.

Xander Bogaerts, returning to Fenway Park: Xander Bogaerts chose to sign an 11-year, $280 million contract with the Padres in late 2022, instead of staying with the Red Sox in free agency. Boston suffered a significant loss because the infielder was a vital member of several World Series-winning teams.

Bogaerts will return to Fenway Park for a three-game series against his former team, marking the first time he has done it since leaving the Red Sox. Naturally, the 31-year-old will not be playing because of a shoulder ailment that has put him on the injured list. Even so, it will be a significant occasion for the four-time All-Star.

He went on, “I’m looking forward to it.” Sometimes, I give it some thought. I was there for a very long time, both in the minor leagues and the major leagues. There were many persons that I am grateful to have made a significant impact on my life. I’m therefore grateful that I spent time there.

Following his exit, Red Sox leadership took the brunt of the blame rather than Bogaerts, who had previously expressed a desire to stay.

Bogaerts said to Speier, “Obviously, you want to be with one team for the entirety of your career, but you’ve seen enough stuff happen with other guys.” “It occurred to me.” Individuals took different paths. I’m content right now. I feel at ease.

Despite stating that he “didn’t want to get [his] hopes up too high,” Bogaerts is nonetheless thrilled by the support from the public.

“I’m hoping for a standing ovation. That would be pleasant.

The Red Sox and Padres will play three games at Fenway Park starting today at 7:10 p.m.

The Free Jacks’ regular season finale is scheduled for tomorrow at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy at 5 p.m. against Anthem RC.

Additionally, the Revolution and Columbus Crew play on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
