Although it was announced far too early, a 2025 NFL mock draft has given football fans plenty to think about this summer.

On June 22, Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network created a two-round mock draft based on his assessment of the top players anticipated to join the pool the next year and updated assessments of the NFL environment. Regarding the New York Giants, for whom he has earned a spot, and giving up the Carolina Panthers’ No. 2 overall pick in exchange for the opportunity to choose Georgia quarterback Carson Beck at No. 1 overall, he stated the following:

The Giants make a small trade-up in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft in order to prevent other teams in need of a quarterback and guarantee that they choose the first overall pick in the class of 2025. Cummings stated, “Carson Beck has an unrivaled ability to win inside the pocket with anticipation, pace, touch, and layering.”

Beck did not experience the fate of prey when he was initially sent into the wild in 2023. In 2023, the redshirt junior completed 72.4 percent of his throws for 3,941 passing yards, an incredible 24 passing touchdowns, and just six interceptions for the Bulldogs.

Due to his exceptional accuracy in the pocket, Beck has the 15th-highest single-season completion percentage in college football since 1956 and is ranked No. 24 all-time. Beyond that, Beck has demonstrated excellent footwork, especially with his drop back, and the capacity to quickly get out of the pocket and create explosive plays with his arms or legs. Most remarkably, Beck acts quickly, demonstrating his ability to seize opportunities and reduce the likelihood of being rushed, fired, or under pressure.

Due to their problematic quarterback situation, the Giants may select a top passer in the 2025 Draft.

In 2024, the Giants will once again start QB Daniel Jones, but they will also have Drew Lock as a backup quarterback. Still, New York has been wary of Jones for a number of months, and Lock has never had an NFL season that would be worthy of being shown.

One of the more exceptional quarterbacks to emerge from college in recent memory is the 21-year-old Beck. Waiting a year for Beck could be worthwhile, since the Giants lost out on the opportunity to select one of three quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft—Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye—with the sixth overall choice in the draft. The 6-4, 220-pound player will compete for a spot next to Texans quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders in the upcoming season. ESPN has also deemed him the largest fish in the figurative pond for 2025.
