In addition to having an All-Star season in 2024, Jarren Duran has emerged as a leader in the Red Sox locker room.

Boston manager Alex Cora discussed the idea of having a team leader on Saturday. Although Cora did not state categorically that Duran, 27, is the leader at this time, he did state that Duran is beginning to shape into that

According to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe, Cora stated, “I’m trying to find the leader of this organization.” “Duran is going to support everyone in the future in addition to helping us this year. He realizes and enjoys it; he’s growing into a man.

In order to have a leader in the locker room when current prospects are called up to Boston, Cora stressed that the Red Sox organization needed one. The Red Sox currently have a large pipeline of prospects that will ultimately reach the major leagues.

Cora wants Duran to be the player they can go to when prospects do ultimately make it onto the MLB roster.

Cora stated, “This will set up the organization for the future.” “Having a guy that those prospects look up to when they come here.”

Rafael Devers, a third baseman with the Red Sox, has been a member of the organization since 2017. He has emerged as the team’s face and is one of the last players standing from the 2018 World Series squad.

Duran has the potential to be a player that takes the locker room by storm, but Devers is a leader by example.

Cora remarked, “We love (Devers) the way he is.” “Just have fun and set an example, but we also need a group leader who everyone looks up to.” Who is better than your everyday starter who has excelled in the clubhouse?

This season, Duran has participated in all 78 games and is hitting.288 with a.352 on-base percentage. The outfielder has 26 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.
