David Tyree is recovering from a poor financial decision.

After making an investment in a juice franchise, the former wide receiver for the Giants—best remembered for his iconic helmet catch against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII—lost about $500,000.

Tyree invested $40,000 in a Clean Juice franchise license, which has been endorsed by Tim Tebow, and $450,000 on equipment after discovering the brand in 2019. After opening a store in Morristown, New Jersey, he revealed to the New York Post that his establishment only turned a $10,000 net profit a year.

Leilah, his wife, told The Post, “My father-in-law, myself, and two sons were working for free in the first year.” “If our sales are close to the top, what’s going on here?”

The Post claims that Clean Juice stated in federal documents that a respectable site may generate a gross profit of $400,000.

Afterwards, Clean Juice started advertising juices that were bottled off-site, thereby rendering the $30,000 cold press machine the Tyrees had put in useless.

Leilah told The Post, “The quality of the product was one of the reasons I came into this.” “We educated the customer for a long time, but it turned into bottled juice.”

Tyree renamed his storefront “Tyree’s Table” in August of last year. The company sells a variety of foods in addition to cold press juices. However, Tyrees’ financial circumstances have not really altered.

They remain in debt of $238,000 for a loan from the Small Business Administration, and terminating their long-term lease will cost them $80,000.

Tyree told The Post, “We have to start from ground zero with no money.”
