T Dilip speaks following India's win over Netherlands 45th Match Cricket World Cup 2023 | by Cricket Zone 360 | Medium

India has advanced to the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 round. With one game remaining in the group stages, they have already won three of their previous games. The Men in Blue had to cancel their practice at Cantiague Park in New York before of their next match versus Canada because of an unfavorable outfield. In Match 33 of the T20 World Cup 2024, India will play Canada on June 15 at Central Broward Stadium in Florida.

Team India looked to the baseball specialists in New York for fielding advice as the fielding session was canceled. There is a long-standing argument that baseball and cricket are similar, although ardent fans will argue that each sport is distinct. Despite discussions of similarities, T Dilip, the fielding coach for India, stated that he has borrowed baseball coaches’ fielding strategies for cricket because he has previously worked with them.

“I felt it would be a great opportunity to trade notes with their coaches, so we went to a Yankees game in New York. Fielding in cricket and baseball share many parallels. I’ve previously collaborated with a baseball coach. I’ll try to apply some of the ideas we discussed in this session, which was also beneficial, Dilip stated, as reported by The Times of India.

“A football player can execute a dummy run, which is when he starts running without the ball and meets it at the last second, fully evading the defense. It’s crucial that fielders develop this feeling of anticipation while someone else is throwing in cricket as well. Actually, everything is connected,” he continued.

After bowling extended periods in the nets, bowlers report for fielding drills: Dilip

India’s bowlers in particular have been risking their lives while on the field, and the team’s fielding has improved dramatically over the years. In contrast to their former selves, players like Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have been erratic on the field. According to Dilip, having a variety of alternatives gives the captain an advantage in positioning elite fielders in strategic locations.

It gives the captain a great deal of leeway in deciding where to keep his important players. This has occurred as a result of the bowlers’ own initiative to improve as fielders. After a lengthy stint of bowling in the nets, the bowlers report for fielding practice. It’s encouraging and something we’ve been trying to grow,” Dilip said in closing.
