Breaking: Detroit Pistons top man rejects a trade proposal from uta jazz…….
The following trade proposal was put forth by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, an NBA analyst, between the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons this offseason: Cade Cunningham to the Utah Jazz; Keyonte George to the Detroit Pistons; Taylor Hendricks to the Pistons; the No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft; a 2025 first-round pick (via CLE); a 2027 first-round pick (via LAL; top-4 protected); and a 2027 first-round pick (via MIN)
This offseason, the Jazz are anticipated to go “star-hunting.” Utah will think about sending extra first-round selections and the No. 10 choice in the 2024 NBA draft to other teams in exchange for “star talent,” according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
For the Pistons this season, in 62 games, Cunningham averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks. He also shot 44.9% from the field, 35.5% from outside the arc, and 86.9% from the free-throw line. Next season, he will earn $13.9 million.
Hughes stated, “This is a huge offer from Utah, but that might be what it takes to get Detroit to give a trade inquiry for Cunningham more than five seconds of consideration.” It’s difficult to blame the Pistons’ difficulties on the top pick in the 2021 draft, even though he hasn’t contributed much to the team’s performance thus far. He joined a select group of just eight players in league history who have averaged at least 22.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game while still only 22 years old.
“Trajan Langdon, who will take over as front office manager in Detroit, may try to realign the roster to include players he wants instead of those chosen by the outgoing administration. He wouldn’t be the first recently hired executive to immediately make an impression on a group. Cunningham, who is probably going to get a max agreement this summer, gets the Pistons four first-round picks and two players selected in the top 16 of the 2023 draft.
“The Jazz’s offer here is no joke, but it would be unusual to see a player with Cunningham’s production and draft pedigree traded before his second contract.”
This offseason, Cunningham is qualified to sign a rookie-scale contract extension. He averages 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks over his career.
This season, the Pistons had the worst record in the NBA. They barely traveled 14–68.
The Jazz, meanwhile, lost 31–51.
