Sad news: Dodgers key man ruled out with no date fixed for his return, due to a rib cage injury.
There was some bad news about infielder Max Muncy, but the Los Angeles Dodgers also shared encouraging news on starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw’s recovery from offseason surgery.
When Muncy was swinging a bat in Arizona seven or ten days ago, he felt a “twinge” in his rib cage. Since then, he has been sidelined from any baseball-related activities, he told Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. Disappointed, Muncy stated that there was currently no schedule for a comeback.
Muncy stated, “I’m not sure if frustrating even adequately captures how I feel right now.”
On Friday, Los Angeles Times reporter Jack Harris was informed by manager Dave Roberts that Muncy is still recovering from an oblique injury using a “slow program.” Roberts then stated that Muncy had ceased swinging for the time being and that, two weeks into his tenure on the injured list, he was still experiencing discomfort.
The Dodgers and Muncy are hoping that he will make a quick return to the major league team, as the offense has been having trouble scoring without him. The Dodgers have only scored 3.7 runs per game on average since Muncy’s final game as of this coming Saturday. Prior to his IL stint, they were averaging 6.8 per game.
It was third baseman who was at bat.May 17, after hitting 223 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs, he was placed on the 10-day injured list.
