ESPN report: Cardinals Star James Conner Announce his departure, after he accused the Organisation of ……

James Conner's first game back to Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Running back James Conner has been a constant in the Arizona Cardinals organization over the last few years, despite all of the changes.

And it’s easy to understand why.

In the locker room, Conner has been the loudest voice.

Look no further than No. 6 if you ever need a reminder of the mentality that head coach Jonathan Gannon is looking for in a player.

“I believe his heart is the first thing to go. Gannon stated on Tuesday that “he genuinely cares about the team like you want him to care about the team.” “He supports the group by himself. After that, I would look at his daily deeds. fulfills all of your requests for him in the proper manner.

“Conner would be in the conversation if I told my eight-year-old, ‘Hey, if you come practice, and you look out there and follow one guy,'” Furthermore, I believe that despite being such a great and successful player, he has always been eager to work on himself, learn new things, gain new perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of the “why.” It’s truly amazing to witness.

Even if Conner embodies everything that Gannon looks for in a player, he could yet leave at the end of the current campaign.

Conner, who is about to enter the last year of his deal, will try his luck on the open market for the first time since signing with Arizona in 2021. Unless a contract extension can be agreed upon by both parties before then, that is.

Conner remarked, “It would be amazing to end my career here, but nothing changes.” “If anything, as I approach my final year under the contract, it’s time to step it up even more. I’m grateful that it’s the last year, so I’m going to give it everything I’ve got this year and see what occurs the following year. Though I understand the business, hopefully stay.

It can be difficult for most running backs who are getting close to 30 years old to get that next contract.

Conner isn’t your ordinary 29-year-old running back, though, based on how highly the Cardinals’ players and coaches regard him and his commitment to both his body and mind.

Conner shouldn’t have any trouble landing his next deal in Arizona or elsewhere if he can match or surpass his 2023 performance, which included 208 carries for a career-high 1,040 yards and seven touchdowns.

“That was the surface. That’s what Autry Denson, the running backs coach, and I discuss,” Conner remarked. “That is the surface. I want that to be the lowest point I ever aim for in my professional life. There is undoubtedly more work to be done, but that is only the floor and not the ceiling.

James Conner of the Cardinals is heading for more pass-catching, right?
Conner has not seen as few targets in his seven-year career as he did in 2023, with the exception of his rookie season, when he saw one (33).

Conner made the most of his few opportunities, hauling in 27 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, but the Cardinals intend to use him more as a pass-catcher in 2024.

“I always believe there’s room for improvement in their games. Gannon stated on Tuesday, “I believe the pass game was a big point for me with him. “We have a plan for him to be more productive in the pass game, in my opinion. He’s a large man who is challenging to tackle. He is an extremely good player and explosive.

Conner thinks it sounds fantastic.

“It’s a challenge accepted for sure,” declared the running back. “I would really like to be present to assist in playwriting. In the passing game, I think I’m capable of making plays. Our reason for working is that. We are here during OTA periods for that reason. We will continue to work on it during training camp and the upcoming season. Acceptance of the challenge
