Breaking: Cardinals prospect giving Rotation’s future to supporters on a mega deal.

Jordan Hicks was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for Sem Robberse, a prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals. With 44 strikeouts in 35.1 innings worked, the right-hander concluded the season with a respectable 4.84 ERA while pitching for Triple-A Memphis. But it appears like he has changed a few things and is much better this season.

The Cardinals rotation appears to have a bright future.
Cardinals supporters have some optimism for the future thanks to Robberse’s performance thus far this season. The rookie pitcher at Triple-A Memphis got off to a great start to the season. Throughout his first five starts of the 2024 season, the right-hander allowed two runs or fewer to score.

Robberse, a prospect for the Cardinals, was very good in April and is definitely close to experiencing life in the major leagues for the first time. During his first five starts for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, he recorded a 1.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. He has clearly made some changes, and they are having an effect.

In an interview on MLB Network, Robberse, a prospect for the Cardinals, stated the following. “I’ve been concentrating a lot on pitching consistently and placing the ball in the most advantageous areas. And what I rely on the most is my mix in particular. It really helps me to be able to throw anything for a strike in any count, keep them off balance, and prevent them from sitting on anything.

When compared to his tenure in Memphis the previous season, the early outcomes of the changes he made have been outstanding, particularly in terms of his control. Robberse recorded 24 walks in 35.1 innings at the end of his previous Memphis season. By contrast, Robberse struck out 29 batters in his first 29.2 innings this season while walking just six. Despite cooling off a little in May, the young righty still has a decent 3.28 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 60.1 innings worked. In addition, he has struck out one batter on average per inning pitched while walking just 19 batters.

How an off-the-radar flyer became one of the Blue Jays' top pitching prospects

Robberse, a Cardinals prospect, had his best game to date.
In mid-April, Robberse got off to the finest start of his career, walking just two batters while giving up one unearned run on one hit. In addition, he recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in his longest effort of eight innings.

Pitching depth in the minors needed to be improved by the Cardinals.
Upon arriving, the 22-year-old Dutch righty started to emerge as one of the Cardinals’ best pitching prospects. Over the previous few years, the organization hasn’t been very successful at developing new pitching, and it has come back to bother them. Fortunately, they were able to add to their minor league pitching prospect pool last season with a few deals. Robberse, a talented prospect for the Cardinals, is headed in the right path, and St. Louis supporters should be optimistic about his future.
