Just in: Giants Greatest Star of all Time Fires a Subtle Warning Kayvon Thibodeaux on his lofty ambition

Michael Strahan Returns to 'GMA' After Absence Due to 'Personal Family Matters'

With ambitious aspirations of his own, Kayvon Thibodeaux has Michael Strahan at his side.

After a contentious but potentially beneficial offseason, the New York Giants should head into the 2024–2025 NFL season with a revitalized sense of confidence and optimism. The Philadelphia Eagles, a rival team in the division, acquired star running back Saquon Barkley from the Giants. Could the troops get motivated by Barkley’s unexpected departure?

Kayvon Thibodeaux, a young Giants player taken number five overall by Coach Brian Daboll’s team in the 2022 NFL Draft, is motivated in the wake of the team’s losses during the summer.

Daniel Jones, the quarterback for New York, recently grabbed attention during the team’s preseason training with an eye-catching appearance. It was also revealed what the Giants’ most terrifying obstacle on their 2024 schedule is.

The Giants great Strahan’s remarks endorsing Thibodeau’s ambitions were made public on Wednesday, May 29.

Giants Thibodeaux’s fifty-four aims for 2024

According to Thibodeaux, he intends to break Strahan’s NFL sacks record of 22.5, which was set in the 2001 campaign.

“I’m aiming to beat Michael Strahan’s record every year I’m here,” Thibodeaux stated in a message published on X by the NFL.

In 2021, the first season the NFL played 17 games, Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher TJ Watt tied the record. Thibodeaux recorded 11.5 sacks in the previous season, which was a remarkable figure given the collective hardships his Giants squad endured. If Thibodeaux’s remarks are any guide, TJ Watt and Strahan’s record may be in danger.

What's missing from Kayvon Thibodeaux's rookie Giants season

Legend of the Giants answers a pass rusher’s brag
The former Duck and young Giant had such confidence, according to Strahan. As David Tyree, Eli Manning, and the rest of the Giants pulled off the incredible upset over Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, and the previously unbeaten New England Patriots, Strahan was awarded a Super Bowl championship in 2008.

The 52-year-old Strahan gave his honest assessment of Thibodeaux’s brag, which probably attracted the Giants star’s notice.

On his X account, Strahan posted, “I hope you get it and I love the confidence.” “You don’t realize how hard it is.”

Giants Trade Proposal: Award-winning WR in place of Darius Slayton

Assessing the trade candidacy of Giants WR Darius Slayton | Yardbarker

Darius Slayton is back at OTAs, but his future with the New York Giants is still up in the air. Maybe the wide receiver might be traded for Justin Jefferson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and end up with the Minnesota Vikings?

According to Vikings Wire’s Andrew Harbaugh, this is a situation. In order to obtain All-Pro wide receiver Jefferson, he combined Slayton with “first and third-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, first and third-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.”

Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Vikings may be open to a trade after considering selling Jefferson before the 2024 NFL draft. The Vikings were (and are) concerned about extending a deal that pays Jefferson more than $19 million a season until he becomes a free agent in 2025.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk supported Walters’ account, revealing that the Vikings intended to leverage a trade for Jefferson to thwart the Giants’ plans for selection day: According to an unverified claim, the Vikings attempted to trade with the Chargers for a No. 5 pick. intending to cut the line ahead of the Giants. with the intention of selecting LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers rather than a quarterback.

The Giants will ultimately be pleased that they selected Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick. Although a rookie is not a given, he is anticipated to be the go-to receiver that quarterback Daniel Jones sorely needs.

In contrast, Jefferson is perhaps the most dominant receiver in the entire game.

Jefferson Justin Exchange an Expensive Dream for Giants
If the Giants paired Nabers with Jefferson, another former LSU standout, their passing game would undoubtedly improve by one or two notches. A transaction worth considering is the opportunity to unleash two mobile, field-stretching playmakers against overmatched defenders.

The Giants don’t really have the financial power to seal a deal, which is the issue. Not when Spotrac.com reports that Jefferson will count $19,743,000 against this year’s salary cap.

That amount is far higher than the $709,777 in remaining cap space that the Giants have. It’s the league’s second-lowest sum.

Adding up the numbers, the Giants are left with no choice than to fantasize about having Jefferson in their offense. Based on their two games versus Jefferson in the 2022 season, they already have an idea of what he is capable of.

In Week 16 of that season, Jefferson scorched Big Blue for 12 catches, 133 yards, and a touchdown, which contributed to the Vikings’ victory. For the postseason, the Giants went back to Minnesota, where they held Jefferson to 47 yards on seven receptions.

They accomplished this by regularly doubling No. 18. similar to the safety and cornerback’s out-to-in coverage that ESPN’s Matt Bowen has emphasized.

The Giants are hoping that Nabers attracts attention like this every week. Jefferson will fetch a high price on the open market because of this as well.

For Slayton, the same cannot be true.

Darius Slayton’s future is uncertain.
In four of his five seasons, he has recorded 700 or more receiving yards, demonstrating his consistency. Slayton wants a contract extension because of numbers like those, but the Giants haven’t been willing to give new terms up to this point.

Giants Receiver Darius Slayton Attends Team's Voluntary OTA Workout

The team did decide to draft Nabers and add Allen Robinson II in free agency, which only made things worse for Slayton. Even though Robinson is a possession-style receiver, Slayton will still have difficulties with his arrival.

In most cases, the latter has done well when attacking defenses vertically. similar to this Week 17 81-yard touchdown reception against the Los Angeles Rams.

Because the Giants are no longer dependent on Slayton’s deep speed, plays like these suggest that he might be valuable in the trade market. Not with Jalin Hyatt, a second-year burner, and Nabers both capable of stretching the field.

Slayton is left without a clear spot in the rotation as veteran Robinson attacks underneath coverage alongside third-year player Wan’Dale Robinson. According to Talkin’ Giants, he’s likely returning to OTAs to try to remind coaches that he still has a role to play.

Jones, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and head coach Brian Daboll are confident in Slayton’s ability to perform. He could be able to finish the season on the team thanks to their knowledge and confidence in him.
It’s a more feasible scenario than making a trade for Jefferson.
