Jamier Jones pledges to attend Providence

Providence has received a commitment from Jamier Jones, the class of 2025 talent ranked No. 32 overall. The Orlando, Florida-born 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward picked the Friars over Ohio State, Houston, South Carolina, LSU, and Kansas.

“I joined Providence because they seem loyal and everything they’ve been telling me sounds good,” Jones remarked. “Coach English FaceTimes with me prior to every game and provides advice.” I’m quite confident in my choice.

Jones recently returned from a trip to Providence that preceded this choice. The staff made the case to Jones during his recruitment that, with commitment, he could advance to the next level.

“They want me to come over there as a freshman and average sixteen in the two or three plays. They provide me with the opportunity to become the one-and-done player I desire, and I am aware of the effort I must accomplish.”

Jones’ choice was also significantly influenced by the Friars’ success.

“Kim English, who came from George Mason, completely changed the program. After they arrived, the entire program was launched. I trust those people to get me to the NBA and help me stay there because they were a rated club the previous season.”

Jones has now joined Erhunmwunse Oswin, a top 50 big guy.

Joson Sanon, a 2024 recruit ranked No. 22, transfers from Arizona to Arizona State

4-Star SG Joson Sanon Breaks Down Oklahoma State Official; Talks LSU, Georgia, Indiana, Arizona, and more - On3

Top-25 prospect Joson Sanon transferred to Arizona State from Arizona.

Joson Sanon put an end to what had, in the background, been a rather rocky recruitment process when he committed to Arizona in late March, expecting to reclassify from the class of 2025 to 2024.

For a few weeks at least, that is how it appeared. After Caleb Love made the decision to return to Arizona, things swiftly altered. Shortly after Love declared his comeback and Sanon expressed his admiration for it on Instagram, the prolific scorer from New England revealed on his platform that he had switched his allegiance from the Wildcats to their fierce competitors, Arizona State.

Alarms were raised when Sanon, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Saxtons River, Vermont Academy, proceeded to play grassroots basketball with BABC on the Adidas 3SSB circuit throughout April and into this month. Sanon is presently ranked No. 22 in 2024. Word spread that his commitment might not be entirely solid, and speculation that Caleb Love might make a comeback to Tucson for his Covid Year only served to fan those flames of speculation. However, a meeting between Lloyd and the family was meant to put things back on track.

But now, in one of the fastest hoops commitment flips we’ve ever witnessed, he’s going to play for Bobby Hurley in Tempe, so things couldn’t have changed more abruptly or severely. The Sun Devils created waves in the recruiting trail a few weeks ago when they signed five-star big man Jayden Quaintance. Now, they’ve made even more waves by signing Sanon quickly.

This Sanon scouting report is provided by 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, Adam Finkelstein.

Sanon is a prolific scorer who can shoot the ball at several different angles. His ability to execute a good lift into a release from a mid-range pull-up has been his greatest weapon throughout the years. In the past year, he has demonstrated the ability to rise-up into his shot and stretch his range to the three-point line. While operating in the half-court, he doesn’t put as much pressure on the rim as he does when getting to his spots and moving downhill in the open floor.

It is as the offensive focal point where Sanon feels most at ease. Although he is a strong scorer who can put up points in large quantities, he has a propensity to seek his shots in a high-volume manner and has to work on being a more willing ball-mover who can have an impact on the game in ways other than scoring.

Conversely, at the moment, he tends to defend in spurts and exhibits occasional effectiveness when utilizing his size and power, but he has not yet consistently adopted that mindset. At the Nike Elite 100 in June of last year, he measured 6-foot-4 without shoes and had a 6-foot-6 wingspan, giving him good positional size but relatively restricted length.
