Rodney McLeod, an experienced safety who had his 2023 season cut short due to a biceps injury, says he is fully recovered for what will be his final NFL season.

Last season, McLeod only appeared in ten games.

Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator for the Browns, has always had a soft spot for him despite his 18 career interceptions in 12 NFL seasons.

This week, the Browns are in Berea for their OTAs.

June 11–13 is mandatory minicamp; training camp starts in late July.

QB Deshaun Watson of the Browns Is Buried in the Latest Rankings

After two difficult seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Deshaun Watson is not coming into the upcoming season with great hopes.

In a 2022 trade, the Browns paid up three first-round selections to acquire Watson. He was also given a $230 million contract with full guarantees by the team. Watson hasn’t lived up to the investment thus far. His performance in 12 games was inconsistent. He’s completed 2,217 yards of passing with 14 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Some of the most recent quarterback rankings have Watson buried. He is ranked among the worst passers by the majority of sources. Watson is ranked No. 23 by Pro Football Focus and is in Tier 5 of 7. The phrase “can singlehandedly lose or win games” refers to that tier.

Watson has not lived up to expectations ever since signing with the Cleveland Browns. Due to suspension and injuries, he has only participated in six games in each of the previous two seasons, and he recently had throwing shoulder surgery that ended the season.

All of that is reflected in his numbers. Watson is ranked 53rd among eligible passers with a cumulative PFF passing grade of 58.7 over the last two years. However, his remarkable performances while wearing a Texans uniform are real. He doesn’t have much time left to prove it, but maybe this is the year we see it happen again.

QBs Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints, and Russell Wilson of the Pittsburgh Steelers are among the others in the group.

The two networks with the best opinions of Watson were Pro Football Network and CBS Sports, who ranked him No. 19 and No. 17, respectively. Since the 33rd Team did not, Watson is ranked No. 27.

There’s no disputing that Watson’s first two years in Cleveland have not been easy. To be honest, seasoned players like Joe Flacco and Jacoby Brissett have outperformed him. They each earn a small portion of what he does.

The Browns remain optimistic that their franchise quarterback can make a difference in spite of the obstacles.

“We are really pleased with the changeover. Browns general manager Andrew Berry stated, “He is in a good spot mentally and physically,” on The Pat McAfee Show on May 2. He has undoubtedly been recovering from his shoulder injury. However, he is in a really good position and well on his way there. He seems to be much more at ease in the company, in my opinion. We have a core group of offensive players that have been playing together for several years.

We do anticipate that he will be up and running on that side of the ball, and I know he is eager to go back on the field and play again after this injury. This season, we do have big hopes for him and the offense.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson Will Make His OTAs Shoulder Debut
During OTAs, Watson has been throwing the ball every other day. On Thursday, May 30, he will make his public debut with a surgically repaired shoulder.

In a May 22 media conference, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski provided some analysis on Watson’s performance thus far.

“I thought he looked like himself,” Stefanski remarked. Since we’ve entered Phase 2, I’ve had the opportunity to watch him for the past few weeks, and I’ve seen him toss. He appears to be himself, but we’ll just keep an eye on the medical staff as he makes excellent progress.

Watson is expected to be ready to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. He’s reached every goal in his rehabilitation and is committed to rewriting the history of his play.
