A 26-year-old striker might be the first summer addition to Cheltenham Town.
Aaron Jarvis, a striker for Torquay United, is being courted by Cheltenham Town.
The 26-year-old scored 27 goals in his two seasons with the Gulls, who were docked 11 points for fielding a suspended player in addition to financial difficulties last season, and ended up 18th in the National League South.
Gary Johnson, the recently recruited director of football at Cheltenham, is now expected to raid his old team, which was relegated from the National League in 2022–2023.
After beginning his career in the development system at his local club, Basingstoke, Jarvis moved to League Two team Luton Town in the summer of 2017.
He had loan stints at Falkirk and Boreham Wood before to joining Sutton United in 2019.
Before moving to Torquay in 2022, 6′ 2″ Jarvis played two seasons in League Two with Scunthorpe United.
During his debut season at Plainmoor, he scored hat-tricks against both York City and Aldershot Town, totaling eighteen goals across all competitions. He added nine more goals in the 2023–24 season, which was marred by injuries.
Along with midfielder Brett McGavin, Jarvis’ departure from Torquay this summer has already been confirmed.
Furthermore, according to Gloucestershire Live, Jarvis will be Johnson’s first addition since his return to Cheltenham last week.
The contracted forwards for Cheltenham are Rob Street, Aidan Keena, Tom King, and Matty Taylor.
Despite receiving a new contract offer, George Lloyd is anticipated to leave on a free transfer.
After interviewing three candidates on Monday, the club decided to give the former manager of Newport County, Walsall, and Swindon Town, Michael Flynn, a position they want to fill this week.

Last week, Luton manager Rob Edwards decided to extend goalkeeper James Shea’s contract with the club because he thought it was crucial to keep several of the players who have helped the Hatters go up the footballing ladder.
After being released by Arsenal in 2013, the 32-year-old played for Needham Market and Harrow Borough before joining the Town as a free agent in the summer of 2017. He had previously spent three years with AFC Wimbledon. Since then, he has made 108 appearances for the Hatters, earning three promotions from League Two to the Premier League and the Golden Glove award when Luton won League One in 2019.
Shea, who has been a third-choice behind Tim Krul and Thomas Kaminski this season, was rewarded for his extensive work at Kenilworth Road with his first-ever premier league appearance when he came off the bench for the final 15 minutes of Town’s season-ending match against Fulham earlier this month. Shea made a fantastic late save against Cottagers midfielder Tom Cairney.
Edwards was excited to have Shea back again, even though Luton eventually lost and now have four goalkeepers on their books due to a decision on the future of Jack Walton, who helped Dundee United win the Scottish Championship while on loan at Tannadice this season. “Sheasy is another brilliant person who sets an example to everyone with his work ethic and character,” he stated in a statement to the club’s official website explaining why that was the case.
“It’s critical that we maintain a core group of individuals at the club who have achieved success and elevated us to this point; he is one of them. He put in a lot of effort to get and stay in shape following his injury (at Cardiff City) a few years back. Again, this is a tremendous accomplishment in modern football, and he deserves the chance to continue doing it for the club for eight seasons because he has consistently pushed the other goalkeepers to maintain their levels.
