Get to Know Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma's Five-Star QB

Ten SEC quarterbacks are expected to mentor young quarterbacks at this summer’s Manning Passing Academy, including Jackson Arnold of Oklahoma.

Jackson Arnold will spend time on the bayou during his first offseason as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback.

A report from Fox 8 in New Orleans claims that Arnold will be attending this year’s Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, Louisiana, the following month. This year’s Manning Passing Academy camp, which is hosted by the Manning family (Peyton, Eli, Cooper, and their father, Archie), is expected to have a number of well-known college quarterbacks as counselors, including Arnold. Typically, the top college quarterbacks in the country serve as counselors for the camp’s players, who range in age from eighth graders to high school seniors.

According to a Fox 8 report, this year’s camp, which will take place on the Nicholls State campus from June 27 to 30, is anticipated to draw the largest crowd in the 29-year history of the Manning Passing Academy. The report states that 1,500 campers will be present this year. In addition to Arnold, the following college quarterbacks are anticipated to work as counselors: Carson Beck of Georgia; Jalen Milroe of Alabama; Brady Cook of Missouri; Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss; Garrett Nussmeier of LSU; Quinn Ewer of Texas; Arch Manning (the grandson of Archie, nephew of Peyton and Eli); Graham Mertz of Florida; and Blake Shapen of Mississippi State.

Although the counselors for the camp scheduled for next month have not yet been formally confirmed by the Manning Passing Academy, the names should be revealed in the upcoming weeks. Ewers and Arch Manning, eventual LSU Heisman winner Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. of Washington, Joe Milton of Tennessee, Cameron Ward of Washington State (now at Miami), Will Howard of Kansas State, Jordan Travis of Florida State, and Tyler Van Dyke of Miami were among the players that attended last year’s camp.

Entering his rookie season as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback, Arnold is not the first signal-caller for the Sooners to take part in the Manning Passing Academy. Former OU players include Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Hurts taught at the camp three times, twice at Alabama and once at Oklahoma. Baker Mayfield also taught there in 2016. This offseason, Dillon Gabriel, a former starter for Oklahoma, went to Oregon. He had previously worked at the Manning Passing Academy in 2021, but that was while he was still at UCF.

Following the Sooners’ spring game last month, Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said of Arnold, “Impressively pleased with the progress, his leadership, the things that he does from a decision-making standpoint, taking care of the football; those are the things I look for.” “He’s also been an excellent leader. In our off-season program as well as after we started playing spring ball. However, I anticipate another surge throughout the summer. Summer is when a lot of player-led events take place. For us to be where we want to be when we return in August, they must perform exceptionally well. He needs to perform brilliantly. as well as everyone. Notonly one individual. However, he sets the example by being a player-driven leader and completing tasks. Being productive, cooperating, and once more fostering the development of our chemistry, unity, and relationships. Those are all really significant items.
