Texans WR Tank Dell returns to practice three weeks following shooting

Less than a month after receiving a slight injury in a shooting in Sanford, Florida, wide receiver Tank Dell of the Houston Texans participated in the team’s organized team activities on Tuesday. Dell, 24, was shot in the leg during the altercation and spent some time in the hospital.

A shooting outside of a nightclub injured ten people, including Dell, according to Florida media reports. None of the victims’ injuries, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, were potentially fatal. Following his arrest, a 16-year-old was charged with attempted murder among other offenses. I’m glad Tank is back in the spotlight. “He experienced a very tragic circumstance,” DeMeco Ryans, the coach of the Texans, told reporters on Tuesday. We’re simply relieved that he’s back and able to continue doing what he loves, which is playing football. His antics are entertaining to watch. Making plays and providing us with dynamic playmaking, just as he always has. A lot of people are eager to see Tank.

Tuesday marked the first offseason practice for wide receiver Tank Dell with the Houston Texans. Less than a month prior, Dell was injured in a gunfight at a restaurant in Florida.

Entering his second season, Dell was reportedly left with a “minor wound” from the April 27th incident, which also left nine other people hurt, according to the team.

When the team staged its first voluntary offseason workout for media on Tuesday, Dell didn’t seem to be limited. Dell was able to intercept a ball from C.J. Stroud during the team’s 7-on-7 drill during preparation.

Tank’s return to action makes coach DeMeco Ryans delighted. We all know, of course, that he experienced a terribly horrible event. We’re simply relieved that he’s back and that he can play football again, which is what he likes to do. It’s entertaining to watch him play like the same guy he always was—making plays and adding energy to our team. Everyone is therefore thrilled to see Tank again.”

On Tuesday, Dell did not comment to the media.

After an exceptional career at the University of Houston, Dell was selected in the third round of the 2023 draft. Before fracturing his left fibula in December, he finished the previous season with 709 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions, setting a team rookie record.
