Once more, the football schedule for Arkansas is among the hardest in the country.
Death, taxes, and Arkansas football’s one of the hardest schedules in the nation are the three things in life that cannot be changed.
The majority of supporters were pleased when the SEC announced the opponents for the 2024–25 football season. In actuality, though, there is only one change between the previous and current schedules: Texas has replaced Alabama, who was just involved in the College Football Playoffs.
Arkansas’s schedule strength has always ranked among the top five, and it will again this year. 247Sports’ Brad Crawford revealed the top-15 most difficult schedules for the upcoming season. The Razorbacks are ranked second.
About the Hogs path this autumn, Crawford wrote this:
Since Sam Pittman’s arrival, his schedule at Arkansas has been difficult, and the 2024 slate is no exception. In Week 2, the Razorbacks will make their first trip to Stillwater in decades to play the Big 12 runner-up from the previous season. Two weeks later, they will have to travel to Auburn. Arkansas still has four preseason games against top-10 opponents on the schedule after that, including home games against LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas.”
The year changes, but the story stays the same. However, from the standpoint of a fan, it should be enjoyable. The Razorbacks host Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas for four of their five home games between the beginning of October and the middle of November. The latter, of course, is the resuscitation of a long-dormant rivalry between Arkansas and the Southwest Conference. The Longhorns’ humiliation in 2021 was only a taste of things to come.
Not only is Arkansas’s trip to Stillwater the closest away game on the schedule, but it will serve as an early barometer of the team’s potential success. It’s only six miles closer than the Razorbacks game at War Memorial Stadium.
Fortunately, the Hogs’ road schedule is doable. Arkansas plays four away games a year, none of which are consecutive. OSU and Auburn, two back-to-back neutral games, are scheduled.
