Birmingham City star linked to a Premier League move.

Ché Adams - Wikipedia

Che Adams, a former striker for Birmingham City, may be on the move this summer as his Southampton contract is up and his future is still unknown.

But where he ends up could be entirely dependent on whether or not the Saints get promoted to the Premier League. They will like their chances after defeating their opponents on the last day of the season when they meet Leeds United in the Championship play-off final the following weekend.

Due to his absence from both of the semi-final legs against West Bromwich Albion, it is unclear if the Scotsman will participate in the final. The Saints secured their spot at Wembley with a very easy 3-1 victory in the return leg, following a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns.

Since joining the Saints in 2016, Adams—who truly came of age at Birmingham City during a stellar three-year stint from 2016 to 2019—has been an integral part of the assault. Given that he appears to be out of favor at the team and that a return to the Premier League wouldn’t be shocking, he appears likely to go at this time.

Everton, Leeds United lining up Bosman move for Che Adams

Since leaving Birmingham in 2019, this is actually his first season back in the Championship, as Southampton just lost their spot in the top division the previous year. After making 116 appearances for the Blues in the second division, he scored 34 goals and provided 13 assists, earning him a lucrative transfer to St Mary’s.

Adams, who is currently 27 years old, is approaching his prime and will desire to play football in England’s premier league. According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are leading the competition to sign the Scot, while Everton and Leeds United are also closely monitoring the striker, so a deal might not be far off.

Adams’ future at Southampton is uncertain, and it’s possible that this was his final game with the South Coast team. He may not participate in the play-off final.

Author’s Perspective

Adams’s circumstances and his track record guaranteed him a lot of interest, and he now appears certain to make a Premier League comeback, maybe with Wolves.

One thing is already known: since his contract is over, Southampton’s £15 million payment to Birmingham will not be matched. The Saints will lose one of their key players in the process and miss out on a significant piece of business.

He’s come a long way since he moved to the West Midlands, and a new environment can inspire even more growth.

The new management goal for Birmingham City is just too lofty: View

In the event that Tony Mowbray is unable to make a comeback, Birmingham City is reportedly considering hiring former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior.

Latest Liam Rosenior reports amid SAFC and Birmingham links

Even though the Blues were sixth in the table at the time, they controversially decided to start Wayne Rooney in place of John Eustace in October. It is safe to assume that the move did not go well.

After winning just two of his fifteen games in command, Rooney was fired in January. Tony Mowbray took over as manager and started off well, but he had to step down briefly in February for health concerns.

In his absence, Mowbray’s assistant Mark Venus took over as head coach. However, after Birmingham lost all six of their games under his watch, previous manager Gary Rowett rejoined the team as an acting head coach.

The Blues’ performance under Rowett improved—they won three and drew two of his eight games as manager—but it was unable to keep them from relegation, and they will play in the third division for the first time in thirty years the following season.

23 Huddersfield Town (R) 46 -29 45

Mowbray is “waiting on word from the medical experts” over when he can resume work, according to writer Alan Nixon. However, it appears that the Birmingham board is preparing in case he is unable to return.

Steve Bruce, the former Blues manager who led the team from 2001 to 2007, is reportedly eager to return to St Andrew’s, and the team is also interested in signing Liam Rosenior, who was unexpectedly fired by Hull City last week.

While it makes sense that Rosenior is being considered by Birmingham, and he would undoubtedly be a great addition, it is hard to imagine Rosenior moving down to League One.
