RB Audric Estime signs rookie contract

Denver is still committing to choices in the 2024 draft.

The team announced on Friday that running back Audric Estime had signed a four-year rookie contract.

With the 147th overall choice in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Estime was chosen by the Broncos.

In 2023, the Notre Dame product ran for 1,341 yards with 18 touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and 111.8 yards per game. The second-team All-American’s single-season running touchdown total is fifth in school history, and he set a program record for the most in one season.

Head coach Sean Payton remarked, “He’s strong,” following the draft. “I believe he has excellent vision and contact balance. After contact, he was among the higher-graded backs. He plays with physicality.”

In Denver’s seven-player draft class, Estime is the third player to sign a rookie contract, following wide receiver Devaughn Vele and guard Nick Gargiulo.

Pre-draft naysayers of the former Oregon and Auburn quarterback Dan Lanning are shredded. Bo Nix

Dan Lanning Botched Oregon's Loss to Washington—Again - Sports Illustrated

Dan Lanning thinks that with their pre-draft analyses of former Oregon and Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix, who was taken by the Denver Broncos with the 12th overall pick, NFL draft critics are just as valuable as weathermen.

“Those draft analysts remind me a lot of weathermen,” Lanning remarked (source: Denver Gazette). They are not need to be correct. What does that matter? It concerns the type of employment he intends to pursue.”

After five other quarterbacks were selected before Nix in the first round, Lanning expressed his belief that the Broncos got a steal with him.

Lanning began, “The Broncos got a steal there,” and then, “That’s a tremendous pick for them… Whether the ball is thrown to him or away from him, he will run his routes hard each and every rep. He will obstruct. On the football field, he possesses every quality you could ask for. He is an excellent teammate.

Bo Nix, a former quarterback for Auburn and Oregon, is blamed for the Broncos’ previous setbacks.
There was pressure from Nix on the Plains that might never be equaled. After an inconsistent 2018 year, Nix, a second-generation Auburn standout and a 5-star recruit, was anticipated to instantly turn the program’s fortunes around upon joining the Tigers. He succeeded in 2019, shocking Alabama and guiding them to nine victories, but he was unable to maintain that pace.

Denver Broncos select former Oregon QB Bo Nix with the 12th pick in the NFL draft

Nix faces a more formidable task now that he is a professional. Since 2015, when Denver won Super Bowl 50 behind the play of an aging Peyton Manning, the Broncos have not advanced to the postseason.

The Broncos don’t have a great defense right now, but they are investing a lot of money in head coach Sean Payton and other players. Numerous supporters will be turning to Nix to end the despair that exists in Denver.

Nix won’t be able to avoid scrutiny as he did in Eugene, even though football fans in the Mile High City might not be as passionate about the game as they are in the SEC.
