Braves players weren't happy with Ronald Acuna Jr. for not hustling

One of the Braves’ most difficult road trips in a long time.

The Braves are not very good when they travel to Seattle or Dodger Stadium, to start.

Since 2014, they are 2–6 away from the Mariners and 6–21 away from the Dodgers. On paper, though, this Braves team is superior than most in the team’s history. A disappointing road trip for the Braves only served to reinforce the obvious fact that they are currently performing below expectations.

In Sunday’s 5-1 loss to the Dodgers, which ended Los Angeles’ series sweep, the Braves played a microcosm of their previous play. Numerous chances to score were lost on extremely hittable pitches, and some unlucky balls were struck hard while in play. Yes, if Atlanta just keeps hitting the ball hard, their fortunes might definitely turn around soon. However, it’s undeniable that this Braves offense is going through one of its worst slumps in recent memory. A trip back home should hopefully help the Braves lineup get back to normal.

Ronald Acuna Jr. is feeling more like himself at the plate and he is making heavy contact more often, if that is a plus. Hopefully, this indicates that his typical caliber of performance will coincide.

According to Justin Toscano, the Braves are trying to maintain as much of their regular routine as they can while holding out hope for improved times to come soon.

Ohtani smacks two home runs to cap up the Dodgers’ sweep.

ANGELES — With two home runs and four hits in a game on Sunday afternoon, Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-1 to win the three-game series. Shohei Ohtani led the team in scoring.

In the opening inning, Ohtani hit a two-run home run 412 feet over the center field fence with a hanging curveball against Braves starter Max Fried. Before starting the eighth inning with a 464-foot homer off reliever A.J. Minter deep into the left center field bleachers, he added two more singles in the third and sixth innings.

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts stated, “He just keeps doing things that we just hadn’t seen before.” That is profound. It is a fact that neither left-handed nor right-handed people consistently hit the ball.”

Ohtani hit his 17th career multihome run in his debut game with the Dodgers. Additionally, his four hits tied a career high. With 10 home runs so far this season, he is currently tied for the major league lead.

“We’re playing really well overall,” Ohtani remarked, speaking through interpreter Will Ireton. “So that’s actually assisting me in getting good at-bats. I’m just feeling fantastic all over.”

For the Dodgers, James Paxton pitched a shutout into the seventh inning, and Teoscar Hernandez added a two-run home drive. With 6 2/3 innings pitched, 5 hits, 1 run allowed, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts, Paxton (4-0) ended the game undefeated.

In the first inning, Paxton retired 16 of the first 18 batters he faced, recording his longest start since June 30 with Boston.

“I felt amazing,” Paxton remarked. “There was finally some rhythm in the air. In between games, I’ve been putting a lot of effort into attempting to figure it out. It’s just satisfying to move forward.”

The Braves, who have dropped five of their past six games, had a home run from Marcell Ozuna. In 7 innings, Fried (2-1) gave up 4 hits and 4 runs, walked 3, and struck out 7.

Six of the previous eight games for the Braves have seen three runs or fewer scored. Only Ozuna’s home run in the eighth inning got them over first base.

The Braves manager, Brian Snitker, stated, “We’re in a little bit of an offensive rut, that’s all there is to it.” “It’s one of those things where if we only go through it one time this year, we’ll be lucky.”

For the Dodgers, Blake Treinen made his first appearance since the 2022 postseason. He pitched a scoreless eighth. To complete the sweep, Michael Grove retired the side in order in the ninth inning.
