Braves News: Jarred Kelenic, Austin Riley’s walk-off on Sunday, and More

In a matchup between the best teams in MLB, the Braves win the series.

Jarred Kelenic won't be 'the guy' with Braves, which could help him shine - The Athletic

The Braves defeated the Guardians in a hard-fought series over the weekend, though not in the most elegant of ways. The series was a matchup between two of the top teams in Major League Baseball.

Even though Bryce Elder had a rough start on Sunday and the Braves were trailing 3-1 going into the eighth inning, more heroics in the late game—two runs scored in the eighth inning—led to the team going into extra innings for the second straight game. At that point, Austin Riley hit the game-winning pitch to lead the team to a 4-3 triumph.

Not only was it encouraging to pull off another comeback win, but Atlanta’s top of the order scored three of the game’s four RBIs. Riley and Matt Olson both had huge hits on Sunday when they were needed, which was encouraging considering their recent difficulties at the plate.

News Braves
Over the weekend, Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. demonstrated some strength for the Braves on the farm.

Jarred Kelenic, a current Brave and former Mariner, spoke with Justin Toscano of the AJC about his early MLB experiences as the Braves begin a series against the Mariners in Seattle on Monday.

Austin Riley’s efforts have been steady lately, so it was encouraging to see him succeed even though his recent results haven’t been the best.
