After the 2024 NFL Draft concluded on Saturday night, a former defensive tackle for Arkansas signed a free agent contract.
John Morgan, a defensive lineman from Arkansas, formally signed a contract on Saturday night as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots. The announcement was made after the 2024 NFL Draft, in which two Razorbacks were chosen.
The 6-2, 270-pound product of Maryland played four seasons at Pittsburgh before spending just one season at Arkansas. He recorded 15 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, and pass deflections in his 11 games with the Hogs. Morgan played in 64 games throughout his five seasons as a college. In addition to his 89 stops, he also had 16 sacks, four forced fumbles, three pass breakups, and 27 tackles for loss.
After this year’s draft, Morgan is the second member of the Razorbacks to sign an undrafted free agent deal. He goes along with Dwight McGlothern, who earlier on Saturday night inked a contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

On November 4, in a victory at Florida, he made two stops. Against FIU on November 18, he recorded three tackles and intercepted his first pass of the season. During Pitt 2022 (REDSHIRT SENIOR): participated in 12 games, making five starts. accumulated 19 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. 2021 (REDSHIRT JUNIOR): Started three games at defensive end and participated in all 14 games. The first three assignments were against Massachusetts on September 4, Tennessee on September 11, and Michigan State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on December 30. Finished with 27 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 6.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. October 2 vs Georgia Tech: two tackles for loss… recorded a career-high four stops on October 30, against Miami. had 1.5 sacks, a career high, against Virginia on November 20. forced a fumble against Michigan State, which teammate Cam Bright recovered for a 26-yard score in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
2020 (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE): Served as a backup defensive end in each of the 11 games. accumulated 13 tackles, four sacks, and seven tackles for loss throughout the season. Has two games where he had a season-high three tackles: on September 12 at Austin Peay and on October 17 against Miami. At Miami, two tackles for loss, including a sack Added sacks on September 19 at Syracuse, November 7 against Florida State, and December 10 at Georgia Tech.
2019 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Participated as a reserve defensive end in all 13 games. 14 total tackles, 4 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss… Has two tackles for loss against UCF on September 19, which was a season high. Has two games in which he recorded a season-high three total stops: on October 5, against Duke, and on October 18, at Syracuse. had sacks versus Syracuse and Georgia Tech on November 2.
