Players with transfer portal shooting ability are sought after by the UNC basketball program.

Koby Brea, a Dayton transfer, might be the best of them all.

Brea recently finished a season in which he made 51.2% of his field goals, including an incredible 49.8% from three-point range. Top-tier programs will come calling when you can shoot at an elite level; Brea has a top five list of colleges he is considering.

North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, UConn, and Kentucky are Brea’s five finalists. The Dayton transfer held Zoom sessions with prospective candidates, which helped him focus his recruitment.

The Washington Heights, New York native’s ability to score from almost anywhere on the court would be a big asset to the UNC basketball team and help the Tar Heels offense thrive. Additionally, he would assist in filling in for Cormac Ryan, who had a significant impact during his one and only season at North Carolina.

The Tar Heels have five scholarships to deal with following Harrison Ingram’s decision that he would enter the NBA Draft. Adding Koby Brea to the roster this offseason might be a significant addition for the UNC basketball team.

Since there were few rumors that North Carolina was involved in Brea’s recruiting in the first place, their involvement has remained secret. But it appears that their Zoom meeting with the Dayton transfer had a significant effect since now the Blue Blood programs will have to fight for a commitment from what is likely the best shooter available in the transfer portal.

Ingram was assigned by the Tar Heels to play the position of “stretch four,” which was a little different from what he had played before. He welcomed the challenge because he not only became a better rebounder but also played a significant role in creating space on the floor for his teammates and himself.
